I have one mission to achieve by doing this. That mission is to stop the judgment and give a voice to those who suffer from:
Chronic Pain
Chronic Illness
Mental Health
I personally suffer from 2 out of the 3 on the list above. I have dealt with being Bipolar since the 90's and with Chronic Pain for 3 years now. I will have to deal with these issues for the rest of my life.
When I found out I was Bipolar the first thing, "My dad told me this is something you never tell anyone because they will think you're crazy." Guess what? I told people. And, guess what? My dad was right. This was over 30 years ago.
But here is the thing: times have changed, and more people have been educated on the topic of Mental Health. Those who suffer should not find the need to suffer alone in silence anymore.
I have chronic nerve pain in my feet, and my right breast sometimes keeps me from doing the things I want. And, to others who usually see a smile on my face, they have no clue about the pain I am dealing with. I don't speak up for fear of judgment. I have had to cancel plans because the pain was just so bad that it hurts to move, but they look at me and think I am just fine when I am not.
I am doing this campaign in the hope of being the voice of others till they feel comfortable using their voice and say it's time to:
SMASH THE STIGMA
